Soundtrack and others

February 02, 2005

I was soooo late to work today because I was too busy picking out a pretty outfit to wear today for my exciting trip to the bank. I mean, what are they gonna do, fire me? EHEHEHE.

Although, I still find myself checking Monster every hour on the hour because I've been doing that for so long, it's just a habit now. Plus, I haven't gotten my offer letter yet and I'm not entirely sure that I didn't make the whole job thing up in my head. Do you ever do that? Do you ever think that maybe the good things that happen to you are something you maybe just created for yourself and didn't actually happen because maybe, just maybe, you've finally done it? You've FINALLY gone insane?

Just me? Okay then.

Today I am going to be music intensive. I thought it would be fun to do a Matt soundtrack, or, the songs that will always remind me of him and our time together. You know, as a moving on and having crazy sex with other people kind of deal. Come on! It's fun.

So, here we go!

It's Your Love - Faith Hill and Tim McGraw - We had been dating for a month and we were getting really close. I think earlier that day we had proclaimed our love for each other for the first time. Later that night, when I was asleep, he called me and told me to turn on my TV to CMT, the country music station. It's Your Love was on. It's a really pretty song that makes me somewhat homicidal when I hear it now.

We've Got Tonight - Bob Seger - Our unofficial song because it was the theme at my senior prom, which we did not go to because we were too cool for the prom. It's really a rather depressing song, but there ya go.

Picture - Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock - I heard this song a couple of months after we broke up, and it instantly reminded me of our situation for some reason, because he had a new girlfriend but he was still depending on me for emotional support, which was a really assy thing to do. It's a good song.

Little Past Little Rock - Lee Ann Womack - Mostly because the first line is "Gotta leave my life in Dallas, that town will always be you.." This song got me through our first break-up, which lasted a whole month.

Clocks/Politik - Coldplay - These two songs came along in the early break-up process and they both struck a chord with me. The line in Clocks "And nothing else compares..." for some reason really got to me. The piano part in Politik is one of the most haunting melodies I've ever heard, and even if I hear it now, I have to stop what I'm doing and close my eyes. It's a powerful song for me.

Austin - Blake Shelton - This song would mean more if I had moved to Austin after dumping him instead of the other way around, but it's still a good one.

Jamie O'Neal - There is No Arizona - Just because we really liked this song and when we went on road trips that included Arizona, this song would be a big player.

Jann Arden - Insensitive - "I'm one of the chosen few who went ahead and fell for you..." That about says it all.

Kenny Chesney - That's Why I'm Here - There's a lot of country music on this list! This song meant a lot to Matt when his best friend died in a drunk driving accident.

Madonna - You'll See - This song has a lot of relevance in my life at the moment, as it's on my iPod and when I'm cruising around town, I put it on repeat and listen to it about 1,000 times in a row. It keeps me strong. It's the best break-up song of all time.

Meatloaf - Two Out of Three Ain't Bad - "I want you, I need you, but there ain't no way I'm ever going to love you.. don't be sad, two out of three ain't bad." Yeah.

Saliva - Always - Now, this is totally a song about abuse, but I didn't know that at first. All I knew was that this song was awesome in those first weeks after the break-up when I had so much angst and frustration and anger. "I love you, I hate you, I just can't live without you!"

Dixie Chicks/Fleetwood Mac/Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide - It has a lot of reasons to be on this list, but the biggest one is that it was playing when we decided it would be best to pursue other directions in our lives.

Garth Brooks - The Dance - Just because. I identified with the part, "Holding you, I held everything.." I don't know why. I'm a huge dork, I guess.

There are others, like almost every song ever by Elton John and Billy Joel, a lot of GN'R songs (since we went to the concert together), and other stuff. But those are at the top of the list. Fun times, right?

That's about it. I have more music stuff I want to do, but I will not beat you down with that. Instead, I will go back to mentally preparing myself for bank fun today. Yark!

Oh, and I got my Decline of Western Civilization Part Two: The Metal Years in the mail yesterday! I am rockin now.

"NOT TO MENTION the fact that BLOCKBUSTER had to call me tonight to tell me that instead of turning in Bridget Jones' Diary, I turned in one of my "personal" movies. He said, and I swear to god he was trying not to burst out laughing, "Yeah, it's called "The Babysitter." Yes, that's porn. I TURNED IN PORN TO BLOCKBUSTER."

"BB is so cute. He's wearing this big blue shirt that says "Big Daddy" on it (cuz he's a big guy, ya know) and his cute little glasses and I just wanna go give him big kisses and muah! Muah! Muah!"
